LANDER, WYOMING—Rock and Ice magazine brought a group of 15 photographers to Wyoming’s Wind River Country/Fremont county in September, and the resulting issue hit the racks this month.
The seven-spread photo essay, titled “Cowboy Poetry” features the storied Wild Iris climbing area, with a few moments captured in the town of Lander between sends and snaps.
Central Wyoming College (CWC) hosted the group for nearly a week at its Sinks Canyon Center, a perfect pairing. CWC has an outstanding outdoor education and leadership associate’s degree program and the Sinks Canyon Center is situated at the foot of another world-class climbing destination in Wind River Country.
“We love helping host Rock and Ice and being home to CWC,” said Wind River Visitors Council communications manager Casey Adams. “Both epitomize the reason Lander and Wind River Country are international climbing destinations.”
