For 250 days, each day reveals something new in Wind River Country—places shaped by history, stories carried through generations and experiences grounded in the landscape itself.

Follow along as the days unfold, or use the countdown as a way to start planning your own trip. Each moment adds to the journey toward July 4, 2026.

Experience the Heritage of Wind River Country

Discover Wind River Country with this interactive audio tour and digital discovery experience, created in celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary. Take the tour remotely by clicking the white arrow in the green circle below and selecting story sites on the map. Combine history and modern-day culture at the Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow, June 19-21. Held in Fort Washakie, the event includes a parade, hand game tournament, drum contest, Indian rodeo and relay races and Grand Entries.
