The Met’s 2025–26 HD season concludes with Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera, a magical-realist portrait of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Reversing the Orpheus myth, it shows Frida (mezzo Isabel Leonard) leaving the underworld on Día de los Muertos to reunite with Diego (baritone Carlos Álvarez), revisiting their passionate, tumultuous love before saying farewell.
