Jurassic Classic Becomes Mountain Bike Festival Celebrating Biking in Wind River Country

Riding a bike is among the simple joys that we discover at a young age and continue to enjoy for the rest of our lives. The pure glee, thrill, and freedom we discover on the driveway on that first ride is something we can tap into for the rest of our lives for a rare escape from adulthood.

This year, the organizers of Lander’s Jurassic Classic are embracing that fundamental delight behind bike riding. The 2017 Jurassic Classic Aug. 25–27 won’t be a race like past years but a festival. The event’s promotional video and website use the word “shenanigans” with dedication, right next to words like “adult strider races,” “slow bike race,” and “whole Landerchalada.”

“The trails in Lander are amazing,” said event director Mike Dicken. “But there is more to Lander mountain biking than just the trails. It’s the community, the shops, the art, the restaurants, the culture of Lander!”

The festival will celebrate all of that with demos from Specialized, Liv, and Giant; group rides, a party, live music, yoga, breakfast burritos, trade fair, and some trail work to keep the mountain bike scene fresh around Lander

Registration for the event is now open, and prices increase Aug. 18, so make plans to join the fun today.
