Dubois Museum: Swift Fox Ecology, Distribution and Trends in WY with Nichole Bjornlie, WG&F, on Zoom. Swift foxes are the smallest canid in Wyoming. Traditionally identified as a short-grass prairie species, swift fox abundance and distribution declined greatly in the late 19th and 20th centuries due to loss of native prairie habitat and widespread predator control. The exhibition addresses the growing incidents of racism, prejudice and discrimination related to color, faith, culture, and ethnicity through art and informative display boards. For this peacebuilding through the arts initiative, fifteen paintings were commissioned from three celebrated contemporary artists of Middle Eastern heritage from Muslim, Christian, and Jewish traditions around the theme of all people living harmoniously, welcoming the stranger, and embracing the other. The Museum of the American West Livery stable hosts this reception featuring locally prepared Middle Eastern hors d'oeuvres at 6 pm. Following a short opening program with special guest speakers Bishop Paul-Gordon Chandler of Wyoming (curator of the exhibition) and celebrated Iraqi artist Qais Al Sindy (participating artist), the exhibition will be viewable at the Fremont County Pioneer Museum through May 28.
