McKinney Ranch Adventure Trek
Join the Pioneer Museum staff on this WRVC Adventure Trek. Visit this historic ranch that was once the Derby stage station and road ranch, later the Carmody Sheep Ranch. Meet at the Museum and take a bus to the ranch.

Join the Dubois Museum and Kass Harrell on this WRVC Adventure Trek. This trek requires high clearance 4×4 or ATV and hiking for approximately eight miles. Caravan in vehicles to the unloading point for ATV/UTV followed by a long rough drive to the hiking starting point. Bring water, lunch, bug spray, bear spray, sunscreen, trekking poles, hiking boots and water shoes for crossing creeks. Advanced registration required. Call (307) 455-2284 for more information.

Join the Dubois Museum for this Wyoming Community Bank Discovery Speakers Series presented by Tom Herret who will teach us about basic astronomy. We will begin with class time inside, followed by a trip in cars to a designated location to look at the white lights in the summer sky. Please dress for being inside and out. Join the Pioneer Museum on this WRVC Adventure Trek. Visit the historic mission founded by Father John Roberts, a Welsh missionary who came to the Lander Valley in 1883 to work among the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho. Learn the history of Roberts, Chief Washakie and the mission and look through the historic structures on the grounds. The Sacajewea cemetery will also be visited. Reservations required. Join the Dubois Museum and Matthew Brueseke from Kansas State University to explore the geological record of the northern margin of the Wind River basin, via a trek up the backside of Spring Mountain. Examine igneous and sedimentary rocks, discuss and see evidence of ancient oceans, the making of mountains and more recent volcanic activity and glaciers. Join the Dubois Museum for this WRVC Adventure Trek Series. This year we will follow the tie hacks up the West Dunoir Valley to see where they harvested ties, stacked the ties and where the main headquarters was. Difficult long hike (approximately 11 to 12 miles total.) Bring bear spray, bug spray, hiking boots, water crossing shoes/sandals, trekking poles, water and lunch. This course takes runners through the beautiful Sinks Canyon State Park. Runners scramble up and down the canyon walls, on both developed and primitive trails, through sagebrush meadows, conifer forests, alongside the Popo Agie River and up to dolomite cliffs known worldwide for climbing.
