“Trails Through Fremont County”
Join the Riverton Museum on this Wind River Visitors Council Adventure Trek with Craig Bromely to some of the famous, historical trails that passed through and around Fremont County. This trek will involve some driving and walking. Everyone is responsible for bringing their own water and lunch and is responsible for providing their own transportation. National Bighorn Sheep Center has partnered with Wyoming Native Plant Society to offer a botany hike specifically for our members! Join Dubois’ favorite locals, Meredith Taylor and Lynn Stewart, for a wildflower hike in the East Fork area of Fremont County. We hope phenology cooperates for a stunning display of bitterroot, but we may also have opportunities to check out blazing star, Prince’s plume, indian paintbrush, and others! "The Snow Chi Minh Trail, the History of I-80" by John Waggoner will be presented June 16 at the Pioneer Museum in Lander. This program is part of the Wyoming Community Bank Discovery Speakers Series. Learn about the history of the infamous route across the state we all love to hate. Waggoner teaches at the University of Wyoming and wrote an entertaining book about the history of I-80. This program is free and open to the public.

The Eagle Spirit Singers and Dancers perform every Wednesday night through August 10 at the Museum of the American West in Lander. Watch skilled dancers in colorful regalia at this outside venue against the backdrop of the Wind River Mountains. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, or sit on the benches. The Wind River Visitors Council and the Journal of Lost Time present a van life and overlanding event series in celebration of gathering in beautiful places. The event takes place from June 23 to 26 in Hudson. The WRVC has arranged county-wide excursions, which can be booked directly through the businesses providing them. The National Bighorn Sheep Center presents: iNaturalist Training with Amy Anderson from Wyoming Game & Fish. Using the fun and user-friend app called “iNaturalist” we developed the Dubois Invasive Species Watch as a Citizen Science Project to help land managers identify the extent of invasive species in the area surrounding Whiskey Basin Wildlife Habitat Management Area and the larger Dubois area.
