Explore the gorgeous views and amazing history of the Upper Wind River Valley including the Tie Hack history and ruins around Lava Mountain and Triangle C Ranch west of Dubois. Railroad ties were cut and used for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad between Lander, Wy, and Blunt, SD. Dubois Museum: Torrey Canyon Geology Adventure Trek
Explore the geologic record of mountain building and basin formation. We’ll examine ancient igneous and metamorphic rocks that underlie northwest Wyoming. See the evidence for how these rocks were brought to the surface 65-50 million years ago. Bring hiking boots, water, lunch, bear spray, bugspray and trekking poles. Social distancing encouraged.
